Mark Wilkins Joins CDOC World Team

Image January 25, 2008 — Toronto, ON — Mark Wilkins is the newest member of the CDOC World Team, and the first Canadian. Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Mark has been a fixture in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series since 2004, and prior to his career in sportscars had notable success in Formula Ford, Fran-Am, Formula Renault 2000 and the Star Mazda Championship. Mark has twice finished on the podium at the prestigious Rolex 24 At Daytona, in the SGS Class in 2004 and then the GT class in 2005.

Involved with AIM Autosport for seven seasons – and united with his engineer Ian Willis for six – Mark made his debut in the premier Daytona Prototype class in 2006 before driving a full schedule in the 2007 season in the #61 AIM / Exchange Traded Gold Daytona Prototype. In 2007, Mark scored a 5th place finish at the Rolex 24 At Daytona a number of top-ten finishes and two top five qualifying efforts.

Mark is studying for an automotive business management degree at Georgian College’s Canadian Automotive Institute, with the aim of acquiring skills which will position him for a leadership position in the OEM Automotive or Aftermarket industries.

Wilkins said, “Being part of the Grand-Am community gives drivers a lot of opportunities, NASCAR among them. I’d love to try my hand at that some day, but since 2004 I’ve been focused on competing in the Grand-Am series, and I’m entering year two of Daytona Prototype competition. The quality of the drivers in the series is incredibly high and the competition’s intense. I’m confident that this year Brian and I will be fighting right up at the front of the field the whole season. We’re running with Ford power and the new 2008 spec Riley body work, and initial indications are that the package is the one to have at the moment.”

CDOC is excited to have dynamic young talent like Mark join the World Team. Keep an eye on this space for more updates about Mark’s season and career.
