CDOC World Team Update – Mark Wilkins and Brian Frisselle

CDOC World Team Drivers Mark Wilkins and Brian Frisselle sit in 10th position in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series standings after five races this season, and head to Watkins Glen on June 6-7 for the legendary Watkins Glen 6 Hours. The duo finished the 5th race of the season at Laguna Seca in 6th place, but as Wilkins noted, are 5-for-5 in top-5 qualifying attempts.

Mark said, “Brian took the car out for qualifying and had a good run, locking in yet another top-five qualifying effort for the team. We are five-for-five in that department. That is a lot of fives come to think of it. A top-five result would round out that equation, but we would just miss that at Laguna. Our main struggle so far this season has been on translating strong qualifying efforts into strong race results, and although we finished a respectable sixth place, no one on the team was satisfied. A few avoidable mistakes were made both on and off the track, and given the nature of the competition, we cannot afford for that to happen. The devil is in the details they say and from here we just need to work hard as a team to finally reach our goal.”

The Watkins Glen 6 Hours has long been one of the premier events in international sportscar racing. Legends like Mario Andretti, Jacky Ickx, Pedro Rodriguez and Derek Bell have all competed in the 6 Hour race, and every team that competes there is keenly aware of the history.

The #61 Exchange Traded Gold Ford Riley will make an interesting promotional appearance in advance of the Watkins Glen Race when the team and drivers appear at the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons baseball game. Brian Frisselle will demonstrate a different kind of athletic talent when he throws out the game’s first pitch.
