CDOC World Team Report – Grand-Am KONI Challenge at Lime Rock Park
May 26, 2008 — Lakeville, CT —
CDOC-supported racing teams scored four of the top ten at Lime Rock Monday, with BGB Motorsports finishing 4th and 6th, Motorsports Technology Group finishing 8th, and Turner Motorsport finishing in 9th. Craig Stanton and Jon Miller, winners of the season opener at Daytona in January, led the CDOC charge, finishing 4th in the GS class in the #83 BGB Motorsports Porsche 997. Their teammates finished in 6th place in the #38 Porsche 997. World Team Driver Darren Law and Andrew Davis teamed to capture 8th in the #19 Motorsport Technology Group Porsche 997, and Matt Alhadeff and Bill Auberlen took 9th in the Turner Motorsport BMW M3 Coupe.
Also, Motorsport Technology Group debuted an exciting new car at Lime Rock, the #18 GS-class BMW Z4 M Coupe. Teammates Billy Johnson and Tommy Milner finished a strong 14th place in the car’s outright debut. Having just finished the build of the car, MTG hadn’t had the chance to so much as shake down the car prior to initial practice for the Memorial Day race, so the race was functionally the team’s first test of the Z4 M.
Billy Johnson said, “The car was awesome. To finish 14th the very first time the car's been out, just shaking out the bugs, was very, very good. We ran competitive times. We were running sixth but had to pit for fuel near the finish."
